It’s been 6 months now since Shy’s self titled album was released to great acclaim, grabbing the number one spot in reader polls across the world. Heralded as the best work the band have ever produced it made the passing of guitarist and song writing genius Steve Harris all the more poignant. Since the album’s release, the remaining members of Shy have been planning a show to mark the anniversary of the release of Steve’s final masterpiece. Today would have been Steve’s 47th birthday and to mark this the band are finally ready to officially announce the details. On 28th October 2012 there will be a performance of the entire album performed live by Steve’s bandmates and, through the power of technology, featuring recordings of Steve Harris on guitar. The event will be raising money for Brain Tumour UK at the request of Steve’s wife, Deb Harris. This performance will take place at the Asylum Venue in Birmingham.

In addition to the performance of the album, the show will feature guest appearances from a number of well known celebrities, and a number of invaluable items will be auctioned on the day, also in aid of Brain Tumour UK.

This will be the only opportunity to see this masterpiece performed live and only a limited number of tickets are available. These will be on sale from Saturday 21st April from the Asylum website ( and other selected outlets.

Further information will be released as the date draws nearer, these will be posted on this website, on the Shy Facebook page and emailed to mailing list subscribers – to subscribe visit the front page of the Shy website at

  4. Well, its been hard to keep this news under wraps hasn’t it chaps.

Will be a brilliant night and I will do what I can to support in my technical/musical/promotional skills. Will be an honour to be a part of it – and of course – I will still be buying a ticket.

No guest list for this one chaps – every penny needs to go to the cause.

    Think we should charge Roy…..

This will be a fantastic night to honour Steve’s memory and to raise much needed funds for Brain Tumour UK who raise awareness of this forgotten cancer and provide much needed support to sufferers and their families, as well as funding research into more effective treatments for brain tumours. It will be a very proud night for me and also an emotional one. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank everyone directly involved for putting together this amazing event, for donating their valuable time to make it happen and of course to everyone who will be attending this unique gig for their brilliant support x

Agree with the comments from other people, it will be sad that Steve is not up on stage, but we will all be so proud to have known Steve and heard his music. It will also be nice to support this great charity. How do we get tickets? We are desperate not to miss out. As Wayne said, he lives away from Birmingham and so do Anita and I. We will all be there and so will Bernie.
Deb, love to you from all of us
